The Mt.Stirling Alpine Resort is
adjacent to Mt.Buller, three hours drive North East of Melbourne via Yea and
Mansfield on the Maroondah Highway. There is a daily V-Line Bus service
to Mansfield from Melbourne.
In winter, from June to
October, Mt.Stirling offers 60km of cross
country ski trails leading to an open snow covered summit, and some marvellous
back-country telemark ski touring terrain.
In summer the resort is
one of the major access points into the magnificent Australian Alpine
National Park, offering recreational activities such as bush-walking, camping, four wheel
driving, fishing, and horse riding.
 Mt.Stirling
has been chosen as the site for a number of movies the most
notable of which being "The Man From Snowy River".
Craig’s Hut, the cattleman’s hut from the movie, is situated
on the eastern side of the mountain and is a popular tourist
destination. From here the views of the high country are
spectacular.
Stirling
Experience operate the cross country ski hire, ski school,
bistro restaurant and alpine snow camp on the mountain during
winter and offer corporate leadership programs, walking tours
across the magnificent Alpine Walking Track, outdoor education
activities and camps throughout the summer (November to April).
