The Mt.Stirling Resort is not
connected to the State Power Grid. Power for the Telephone Box
Junction Nordic Centre is supplied via a 11 KVA hydro electricity
plant situated below the waterfalls on Falls Creek, 800 meters
below TBJ. The plant was installed by Stirling Experience in 1997.
The system is totally automatic
dumping unused power into heaters within the building. During
summer, when less power is required and there are no requirements
for heating the system is shut down to 20% capacity.
