group in the snow and your code of responsibility towards others
is important. Please look for the Snow Safe Booklet and the
Alpine Responsibility Code when you arrive in the Resort and
make your group aware of the environment that they are visiting.
Both publications are available
from the Ski Patrol by telephoning 5777 6532 or contacting the
resort via the WEB site at www.mtstirling.au.com.

Trail
Marking:
All Cross Country Ski Trails at
Mt.Stirling are marked with Orange trail markers. The first marker
on each trail also has a green, blue or black marker to indicate
the level of difficulty of the trail. Please ski only those trails
which your group is able to manage and note that the summit area
is NOT suitable for beginners. Ask the Ski Patrol or the Ski
School on the mountain for advice if you are unsure. Do not ski on
closed trails and please remove your skis where indicated on those
trails which have limited snow cover.
Cross
Country Skiing Check List:
Plan to carry a small day
pack with
- Water bottle,
- Energy food such as chocolate, nuts, barley sugar
- Emergency clothing plan for - windproof, waterproof and
warmth.
- Plastic ground sheet or thermal blanket
- Map, Compass & Whistle
- Gloves and hat
Dress in layers of clothing rather than bulky suits.
Always fill in an Intensions Form and leave with the Ski Patrol or
local police.
